At a time when the effects of climate change are also becoming increasingly noticeable in Germany and the urgent need for action is undisputed, the municipal level is implementing concrete and effective measures to protect our planet. Decisions are made here every day that have a direct impact on energy consumption, the organisation of mobility, environmental pollution and the quality of life of citizens.

The municipal level can therefore initiate sustainable changes in areas such as urban planning, transport, energy supply, waste management and green space design in order to maintain equal living conditions in society. In this complex network, the information available for the selection and implementation of climate protection measures is often confusing and of varying quality. In addition, financial and human resources are often limited. There is currently a lack of scientifically sound decision-making support in Germany that is customised to the local situation and also enables a time and cost-saving comparison with similar municipalities.

This is where the concept of the dynamic database of measures comes in, by scientifically evaluating and prioritising the boundary conditions that lead to a municipal climate protection decision in a new and pragmatic way, thus providing municipalities with a concrete tool that helps them to achieve their own climate protection goals as efficiently as possible.
